athletics programs
The LWA athletic program emphasizes participation, sportsmanship, hard work, and leadership. In addition to regular physical education classes from Pre-K through grade 12, our athletic program provides grades 5-6 intramurals, Lower School field day, Middle School sports nights, and various sports clinics.

LWA also offers a variety of competitive sports opportunities for kids of all ages. We're proud to report that our athletic teams have achieved continuous success, including the numerous championships listed below, while maintaining our "no cut" policy. If a student wishes to play a sport, he or she will become a member of the team.
LWA is a member of the Independent Private Parochial School Athletic League (IPPSAL) and Private School Athletic Association (PSAA). Our Middle School and Upper School interscholastic teams compete against other private schools on Long Island and in New York's five boroughs in baseball/softball, basketball, soccer, golf, tennis, and volleyball.
A Message from the Director of Athetics
“We’ve been to the State Championship for basketball five times in my career here, and for a small school like ours it’s a big deal. I love seeing our kids go on to be successful in athletics, and I hope that I’ve had a hand in that. My best advice for athletes is have fun, work hard at whatever sport you’re playing, make new friends and set some goals for yourself about what you want to accomplish. All kids should benefits from team comradery, and our kids have an opportunity to get involved in sports through our “no cut” policy, regardless of skill level. Sports are an avenue for our students to connect with our school, and that shouldn’t only involve the best athletes."
