Boys Varsity Basketball Team Wins the PSAA Championship
February 18, 2011
On Thursday, February 17th, the Boys Varsity Basketball team was named PSAA champion after defeating Evangel Christian School by a score of 72-49. Several additional honors include Jerome Hadyden (All Conference), Trent Parrish (All Division), Jamal Benn (MVP for league and playoffs), and Coach Weiss (Coach of the Year). Lawrence Woodmere now advances to the NYSAIS tournament, which will begin March 3.

LWA's Student Editorial Staff Win Yearbook Award
August 19, 2010
Six students from the editorial team of the Portfolio, the Lawrence Woodmere Academy yearbook, traveled with three advisers to Gettysburg, PA to attend the Jostens Yearbook Summer Workshop, earning special recognition for "Best Content and Organization."

LWA Students Showcase Their Work at the Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library Art Gallery
July 14, 2010
Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library Art Gallery held a reception on Friday, April 23, for the students from Lawrence Woodmere Academy who showcased their art during the month of April. The students, ranging from kindergarten through twelfth grade, gathered with their friends and parents to celebrate their art work.

What Is an "Upstander" and Why Does LWA Focus on It?
July 14, 2010
Middle School is the time for children to try on various faces as they do the very important work of discovering and cultivating whom they want to become. Activities in Advisory Groups, modeling by and engagement with teachers and advisors, as well as our signature annual Character Education Day, help students develop awareness about being upstanders.
