LWA is excited to announce the arrival of our new Middle School Director, Donna Linton. Ms. Linton comes to us with invaluable experience in New York City independent schools, as well as with her enthusiasm for education and a bright perspective on our Middle School program.
"I was looking for an appropriate challenge and fit -- stylistically, intellectually, and culturally -- and LWA fit that description," Ms. Linton said. Ms. Linton holds a bachelor's degree in French from the University of Houston and a master's degree in French literature from New York University. During her graduate work she traveled to France as a Fulbright Teaching Fellow and taught "American Language" at the Lycée Jean Jaures in Montreuil.
After receiving her master's, she was employed by the Modern Language Association and then Trevor Day School in Manhattan. Ms. Linton stayed at Trevor Day School for 28 years, and joined the LWA community in July.
She has ambitious plans for bolstering our Middle School advising program, as well as providing clarity in the guidelines of our extra-curricular activities. She also plans to support and strengthen our technology program.
"I was warmly welcomed and embraced," she said. "I am enjoying being part of a community where our Headmaster is an educator above all else. It is heartening to be a part of this intelligent and caring team."
